Dr. Marecek is a board-certified orthopaedic trauma surgeon who treats fractures of the upper and lower extremities, pelvis and acetabulum. He specializes in “problem fractures” with an emphasis on post-traumatic reconstruction and limb salvage. He has particular expertise treating nonunions, malunions, bone defects, limb length discrepancy, skeletal deformity, and osteomyelitis using internal fixation and circular external fixation. He employs cutting-edge technologies for internal fixation and structural and biologic augmentation of fracture healing.
Dr Marecek is considered a national expert in the treatment of open fractures, tibial plateau fractures, and post-traumatic reconstruction. He is active in clinical research and has published in leading journals and textbooks.
Dr. Marecek completed his undergraduate, medical school and residency at Northwestern University in Chicago, IL From there he continued his education in trauma surgery at Harborview Medical Center, one of the busiest and most respected trauma centers in the world. He was the recipient of the prestigious AO Jack McDaniel Memorial Fellowship, during which he went to Switzerland to learn advanced surgical techniques to treat hip and acetabular fractures.
